The Choice

This is a message of mostly personal relevance that aims to guide my intentions for writings I may come to publish – and ground my reasoning in a few tenets I hold dear.

Through my journal, I seek to compile, share and put to paper ideas that have contributed to my path and may contribute to the path of others – be it personal, professional, or any segment of their interest.

  1. Humankind can be seen as one complex organization that is ultimately made out of multiple individuals. But, it can be experienced only by single individuals, like you or me. Each one of us has a choice on how to act and proceed. And much like a rock thrown into a lake, once a choice is made, its consequences ripple and permeate our environment – continuing beyond the point where we consciously cease to perceive it.
  2. To develop the consciousness up to, through that, and beyond that point is a choice. By making this choice, one chooses not to ignore what others may perceive as noise, but instead to dive into it, and rescue and craft – meaningful connections. And this choice is the guiding line of all the personal development paradigms that have in common the betterment of the individual, and by extension – the community.
  3. It is necessary to respect different positions and disagreements, for that is the foundation of community. It allows a multitude of individuals to work, think and experiment – to find increasing levels of harmony and stability with the whole. It allows for the development of diversity, where different individuals can specialize and pursue paths they choose and are adept at. It allows us to find deeper things to hold dear, as we explore our differences and things in common.
  4. One should encourage us to acknowledge and value all ‘the good’ we may find. Before us. All around us. And within us – through it’s many folds: i) in the kindness of others; ii) in the strength of those who labour.; iii) in the pursuit of logic and truth; iv) in the dreams of what can be possible; v) in the will to continue. By doing so, even if we sail through turbulent times – our compass will always have a north to point to,
  5. We ought not to forget, misplace, or mislabel what we may perceive as hurtful – but engage with it truthfully, and integrate it. Being mindful that life unfolds as ups and downs, one can be certain that challenges will arise. But by holding harmony as a goalpost – as a light that guides us – one can continue forward, learn “the lessons”, and muster the courage to keep going through challenges one might be facing.
  6. Nonetheless, there will be times when the best way to continue is to stop. And even if difficult, one should find room for appreciating what we consider to be “good”.
  7. I trust that, with will and time better answers, questions and ‘experiences’ will come. And with that, a better relationship and integration with the tapestry of the Universe will come.
